ShelterBox and Sharon Rotary at Canton's Big Green Box Week Celebration

Sharon Rotarians joined Student ShelterBox Ambassadors to support an amazing ShelterBox fundraiser in Canton, MA on June 10th.
Congregations from Canton's Temple Beth David of the South Shore, First Parish Unitarian Universalist and United Church of Christ created a labor of love to raise funds for ShelterBox to make a difference in the lives of families displaced by natural and other disasters around the world. Early collaboration included interfaith celebrations such as a ShelterBox Shabbat at Temple Beth David where congregations came together to learn more about the ShelterBox mission and work in the field. Their project team's goal was to raise $5000 for ShelterBox.
Organizers planned three events on June 10th - a pancake breakfast at Temple Beth David, a Family Fun Fair at the United Church of Christ, and a Car Wash and ShelterBox Afternoon Cafe with lunch and live music. Sunday was a wonderful sunny day and volunteers from all congregations came together to put on an amazing program. Sharon Rotarians and ShelterBox Ambassadors Greg Garofolo,and Steve Savrann, joined Sharon Rotarian Steve Kitay, ShelterBox Ambassador Bethany Richards, and Student ShelterBox Ambassadors Mike Manning and Sharon Interactor Joy Gitter to help support the event.
The numbers have come in and the project achieved its goal and raised $5000 for five ShelterBoxes. Congratulations to the Canton Interfaith team and all of their dedicated volunteers, young and old, who came together to create a service project worthy of repeating!
